A Study on the Impacts of the Fire Product at Subway Stations on Evacuation Speeds of Pedestrians

Abstract
The influence of fire accidents on the speeds of the pedestrian evacuation in complicated subway environment has a significant impact on the configuration of subway fire-protection facilities as well as subway evacuation facilities. In most of previous research, the environment difference between subway stations and regular buildings is usually ignored. This paper regards a subway station as an island platform,and uses a software package called Pyrosim to establish the simulation model. The functions,which describe the impacts of fire product including the visibility,smoke toxicity(CO)and size of fire on pedestrian evacuation speed,are given. The results from subway station and general building environments are compared. The analysis shows that the visibility of evacuation speed is nonlinear in a complex subway environment rather than a linear relationship in the general building environment;function of CO concentration and smoke temperature influence on evacuation speed is unchanged but the parameters changed significantly.关键词
