MMC-SST Type Comprehensive Power Quality Management Method for the Medium-and High-voltage Distribution Network

Abstract
A modular multilevel converter based solid state transformer(MMC-SST)is proposed,and it is applied to comprehensively manage the power quality in medium-and high-voltage distribution network. Firstly,the topology and operation characteristics of MMC-SST are analyzed. Secondly,the control strategies at the input,isolation and output stages are designed,separately. Finally,a simulation model of this system is established by using Matlab/Simulink . The results show that in the typical cases including transient and unbalanced voltage on grid side,load changes and har?monic pollution,the proposed system has the ability to maintain the stability of DC and AC voltages and to operate with the unity power factor on the input side.Besides,the features such as fast voltage and current response,as well as the robustness to load variation,can also be maintained,which can effectively solve the power quality problems in the me?dium-and high-voltage distribution network.关键词
