Antioxidant Effects of Green Tea Powder and Green Tea Polyphenols on Canines
摘要
Abstract
The present study was conducted to investigate the antioxidant effects of green tea powder and green tea polyphenols ( GPTs) on canines. Fifteen 5?month old canines were selected and randomly divided into three groups ( 5 canines in each group) . The canines in control group were fed a basal diet, the canines in green tea power group were fed the basal diet plus 1.00% green tea power, and the canines in GPTs group were fed the basal diet plus 0.25%GPTs. The feeding experiment lasted for 84 days. The results showed as follows: 1) compared with the initial body weight, the final body weight of control group, green tea power group and GTPs group was increased by 162%, 101% and 132%, respectively. The final body weight of green tea power group and GTPs group was significantly lower than that in control group ( P<0.05) , which was decreased by 61% and 30% compare with control group, respectively. On the 84th day of experiment, the activities of ser?um alanine transaminase ( ALT ) , aspartate aminotransferase ( AST ) and lactic dehydrogenase ( LDH ) in green tea power group and GTPs group were significantly or extremely significantly lower than those in control group (P<0.05 or P<0.01), the activities of serum glutathione peroxidase (GSH?Px) and superoxide dis?mutase ( SOD) were extremely significantly higher than those in control group ( P<0.01) , the content of ser?um malondialdehyde ( MDA) was extremely significantly lower than that in control group ( P<0.01) , and the relative mRNA expression levels of antioxidant genes [ glutamate cysteine ligase catalytic subunit ( GCLC ) , glutamate cysteine ligase subunit modification ( GCLM ) , heme oxygenase 1 ( HO?1 ) and catalase ( CAT ) ] and phase Ⅱ detoxification genes [ quinone oxidoreductase 1 ( NQO1 ) and glutathione S transferase M1 ( GSTM1) ] in liver were significantly higher than those in control group ( P<0. 01 ) . In summary, adding 1.00% green tea powder or 0.25% GTPs in the diet of canines have the effects of liver protection, antioxidant, activating phase Ⅱ detoxification gene expression and controlling body weight under the condition of the pres?ent study.关键词
