Abstract

Single crystal of 99.7(99.6K0.5Na0.5NbO3-0.4LiBiO3)-0.3CaZrO3 was prepared by a seed-free solid-state crystal growth method. The characteristics, microstructure, piezoelectric and dielectric properties of the single crystal at different pre-synthesis temperatures were investigated. The pre-synthesis powder has a more stable tetragonal phase structure, but its granularity and morphology have little change as the pre-synthesis temperature increases. The centimeter-sized single crystal was prepared with the pre-synthesized powder at different temperatures. The crystal appears semi-transparent with light yellow color. The growth characteristics and microstructure of single crystal have little change at different pre-synthesis temperatures. However, its piezoelectric properties firstly increase and then decrease with increasing the pre-synthesis temperature. The single crystal of 99.7(99.6K0.5Na0.5NbO3-0.4LiBiO3)-0.3CaZrO3 has the optimum piezoelectric constant (i.e., d33=284 pC/N) when the pre-synthesis temperature is 850 ℃.
