Abstract

Zirconia fiber reinforced closed porosity foam zirconia ceramic was prepared by using cubic zireonia powder as matrix,cubic zirconia fiber as reinforcement and polyvinyl alcohol solution as viscous agent.The process of foaming and freezing was realized by the reaction of zirconium oxychloride with hydrogen peroxide.The samples were characterized by SEM,XRD,thermal conductivity tester,high-temperature resistance tester and mechanical property tester.The effects of the addition amount of foaming agent,zirconia fiber and viscous agent on the properties of ceramic were discussed.The result shows that when the mass ratio of zirconia powder:zirconia fiber ∶ zirconium oxychloride ∶ hydrogen peroxide ∶ polyvinyl alcohol=1 ∶ 0.31~0.55 ∶ 0.04~0.06 ∶ 0.15~0.20 ∶ 0.01~0.02,the properties of ceramic are relatively good.The porosity is about 80%,the density is about 1.25 g/cm3,the thermal conductivity coefficient is about 0.09 W/(m·K),the permanent liner shrinkage at 1700℃/12 h is about 1%,and the bending strength is about 114 MPa.
