Effects of Coated Sodium Butyrate on Intestinal Health and Growth Performance of Weaned Piglets

Abstract
In order to find the effect of sodium butyrate on intestinal health and growth performance of weaned piglets,60 weaned piglets with similar weight were randomly divided into 2 groups:one was the control group whose weaned piglets were fed with basaldiet;the other was the coated sodium butyrate group whose weaned piglets were fed with basal diet and 0.03 % coated sodium butyrate.The experimental period was 28 days.During the experiment,the changes of the type and quantity of the intestinal flora in the weaned piglets were detected,and the daily feed intake,daily gain and diarrhea were recorded.The results showed that compared with the control group,the group fed with coated sodium butyrate showed an increase of average daily gain by 7.22%,a decrease of feed to meat ratio by 2.76%,and the diarrhea rate and diarrhea index decreased by 30.71% and 33.85%.Escherichia coli,Staphylococcus aureus,Enterococcus,Lactobacillus,Bifidobacterium were calculated in each group.The results showed that coated sodium butyrate can significantly reduce the number of Escherichia coli in ileum (P<0.05),increase the number of lactic acid bacteria and bifidobacteria in cecum and colon (P<0.05).After the experiment,the morphology of intestinal tissue in each group was found after the addition of sodium butyrate in the basal diet,the structure of the small intestine was more complete,the villi were longer and stronger,and the villi were round finger.The basic diets supplemented with coated sodium butyrate can effectively improve the number of piglet intestinal bacteria,promote the transformation of piglet feed rate,promote the development of small intestine villi,and can reduce the diarrhea rate of piglets.关键词
