Effects of carbonization time on biochar properties based on long and short staple cotton

Abstract
In order to realize the recycling of cotton stalk resources in Xinjiang, the cotton stalk was prepared as biochar to improve the effects on the desertification soil in southern Xinjiang.In the article, biochar were prepared based on cotton stalk, effects of carbonization time were studied on the biochar yield based on long and short staple cotton, moisture content, pH, iodine adsorption value and water holding capacity. The results showed that both biochar yield and pH of biological carbon based on long staple cotton were larger than short staple cotton, but the moisture content and the iodine adsorption value were opposite.When the carbonization time was 4 h, both biochar yields were little different. The biochar pH of short staple cotton was lower than long staple cotton, and the water holding capacity of biochar based on short staple cotton was strongest.Therefore, the biochar based on short staple will be expected to solve the problem of soil salinity and water holding capacity of desertification in southern Xinjiang.关键词
