Abstract

To remove the chromium Cr6+ion in waste water, the adsorbent of FeCl3-modified pomelo peel was manufactured by adjusting its mass ratio. Firstly, the two modified biomass adsorbents were obtained after the common processes, i.e. the stirring process of pre-synthesized powder mixtures of the pomelo-peel and FeCl3in water under the ordinary temperature and the drying process at (85±2) ℃ for 24 h, with the sole difference in the mass fraction of FeCl3 being 1% for No.1 sample and 9% for No.2 sample, respectively. The results show that the maximum unit adsorption capacities of No.1 sample and No.2 sample are 1.98 mg/g and 26.6 mg/g, respectively, And the two samples can be depicted by the typical Isothermal Equations of Langmuir and Freundlich, respectively. The better property may be attributed to the properly higher ratio of FeCl3. The adsorbent of FeCl3-modified pomelo peel plays an important role in the chromium Cr6+water treatment and the recycling utilization of the biomass material, which is attributed to the automatic- control of pH, easy-operation and nonexistence of secondary pollutions.
