Abstract
Objective:To investigate the diagnostic performance of MRI of fetal cleft( CL) and/or cleft palate( CP) . Methods:The data of 24 cases of fetuses with fetal cleft lip and palate deformities were enrolled in the study. Two dimension-al MRI with Single-shot fast spin-echo T2 weighted sequences( SSFSE) ,fast image employing steady-state acquisition( FIES-TA)and 3D MRI with 3D FIESTA were acquired. The results from MRI and US images were compared with each other as well as the autopsy and follow-up results. ROC curve analysis of data by SPSS software was conducted to compare the diagnos-tic performance on CL and /or CP. Results:Following-up results showed four cases with incomplete cleft lips and the other twenty cases with complete cleft lips and cleft palates. Of the twenty cases,three cases of bilateral cleft lips and palates were included. On MRI,CL showed completed or uncompleted soft tissue interruption of the fetal lips with amniotic fluid filling, which is high signal on T2 WI. CP showed discontinuous of the soft tissues,which were interrupted by long T2 signal and communicating with oral cavity and nasal cavity. AUC of US and MRI was 0. 899,0. 974,respectively. There was statistical significance(P<0. 05). Conclusion:US is the first choice of image modality for fetal cleft lip and palate. However,MRI al-lows detailed prenatal evaluation of fetal lip and palate compared with US,and improves the diagnostic accuracy of fetal cleft lip and palate.关键词
