Tests and Analyses on Failure Mechanism of 1100 kV UHV Transformer Porcelain Bushing

Abstract
In order to evaluate the seismic performance and weakness of ultra-high voltage(UHV) bushing,shaking table tests were carried out on a 1100 kV UHV transformer porcelain bushing under different input ground motions.The dynamic property and seismic responses of the bushing were measured.The results indicate that the natural frequencies of the bushing are low and the damping ratios are small,while the dynamic amplification effects are obvious.Under the input ground motion of the synthetic time history,the bottom plate of the cast aluminum flange cracks along its stiffeners and oil leakage happens.The failure phenomenon is in accordence with the transformer bushing flanges in Wenchuan Earthquake.After the failure,the fundamental frequency decreases and the damping ratio of the bushing increases.Moreover,the reason for the failure is analyzed and the weakness of the bushing is found to be the flange connection between the bottom plate and stiffeners.Some countermeasures are suggested to improve the seismic performances of the bushing.关键词
