Abstract

Shielding fitting is an integral part of UHV converter station,and its surface electric field control is of vital importance to the normal operation of the converter station equipment.In order to achieve the surface electric field control of the shielding fittings of post insulators in ±1 100 kV converter station,taking the shielding balls of post insulators as the object,we established a fimite element model of 3D,and used the electrostatic field instead of the transient field to obtain the surface electric field distribution of the shielding fittings under the switching impulse overvoltage.Moreover,we discussed the effects of shape of the shielding balls,size of the hole chamfer,depth and angle chamfer of the hole,and other factors on the fittings surface electric field distribution under impulse voltage.The results showed that,under the impulse voltage,the maximum surface electric field intensity of the design scheme of ‘drum'fitting can be controlled under 21 kV/cm,the safety margin is large.The shielding balls with radius of the hole chamfer above 100 mm can effectively reduce the electric field intensity.In addition,reducing the opening depth or the inclination angle is also beneficial to controlling the electric field intensity.The research results can provide some references for the design and installation of the shielding balls of±l 100 kV UHV converter station.
