Effect of Rain Distribution on Surface Electric Field of ± 1 100 kV Smoothing Reactor

Abstract
To optimize external insulation configuration of a smoothing reactor,we established a 3-D finite element analysis model of smoothing reactor based on the structural characteristics of ±1 100 kV oblique dry-type smoothing reactor.The distribution of electric field on the grading ring and insulator surfaces under dry and different rain distributions was calculated and analyzed.The results show that the electric field intensity of the smoothing reactor,especially the lowest grading ring,is obviously increased,and the discharge is more likely to occur.Moreover,a rain experimental platform was set up in Changping UHV test base in Beijing,and the insulation characteristics of the smoothing reactor under dry and rain conditions were tested.The experimental results show that the switching impulse voltage decreases under wet condition and the initial discharge positions concentrate on the lowest grading ring of the smoothing reactor,which is basically in accordance with the calculated results.Therefore,by using the method,the performances of external insulation can be improved by increasing the diameter of the lowest grading ring of the smoothing reactor from 200 mm to 300 mm;the maximum electric field of the grading ring is reduced by about 10%.关键词
