摘要

Abstract

Diaphania caesalis is one of the important stem borer moths damaging Artocarpus heterophyllus. The antenna sensilla of male and female adults were examined by a scanning electron microscope. The result showed that the antenna of D. caesalis was filamentous in shape and consisted of a scape, a pedice and a flagellum connected by 76 subsegments. Overall, eleven morphological sensilla types were identified in both sexes, including sensilla trichodea (ⅠandⅡ), sensilla chaetica (ⅠandⅡ), sensilla coeloconica (ⅠandⅡ), sensilla auricillica, sensilla styloconica, sensilla basiconica, sensilla squamiformia, and B?hm bristles. There was no difference found in the morphology, structure and distribution between the sexes. These findings would provide a basis for further study on the host selection mechanism of D. caesalis.
