Abstract

Objective:To probe into the influence of parental rearing style and teachers' teaching style on personality of college students,and to provide basis for their personality cultivation and mental health education.Methods:A stratified sample of 449 undergraduates,demographic general information questionnaire,EPQ-RSC,Parental Bonding Instrument,PBI and Teacher's Teaching Style Adjectives Assessment Questionnaire were used to investigate.Results:Extroversion score in the personality trait of college students was the highest score(7.84±2.70) and psychoticism was the lowest score(2.61± 1.67).Parental care was negatively related to children's psychoticism and neuroticism,and positively correlated with extroversion(P<0.05 or P<0.01).The teacher's humor activity type was negatively related to students' psychoticism,neuroticism and concealment(P<0.05 or P<0.01).Regression analysis showed that parenting style,teacher's teaching style and demographic data could predict the personality of college students.Conclusions:parental rearing styley style and teachers' teaching style were important factors affecting the healthy development of college students' personality.It was suggested that parents should adopt proper parental rearing styles,provide a good environment for family growth and lay a foundation for shaping healthy personality of college students.
