Effect of dexmedetomidine on serum superoxide dismutase, malondialdehyde and interleukin-6 in elderly patients with laparoscopic adrenal tumor resection

Abstract
Objective To investigate the effect of dexmedetomidine on the levels of serum superoxide dismutase (SOD),malondialdehyde (MDA) and interleukin 6 (IL-6) in elderly patients with laparoscopic adrenal tumor resection surgery.Methods A total of 56 elderly patients with laparoscopic adrenal tumor resection were randomly assigned into control group (n =28) and treatment group (n =28).Patients in control group were given routine clinical therapy,based on the routine clinical therapy,patients in treatment group were given additional dexmedetomidine injection.The levels of serum SOD,MDA and IL-6,the heart rate (HR) and mean arterial pressure(MAP) at before anesthetic (T1),5 min after induction of pneumoperitoneum(T2),15 min after induction of pneumoperitoneum(T3),30 min after induction of pneumoperitoneum (T4) and 5 min after pneumoperitoneum (T5)and the incidence of adverse drug reactions were compared between the two groups.Results After treatment,the levels of serum SOD in patients of the treatment and control group were (87.64 ± 11.75),(66.70 ± 9.91) U · mL-1;the MDA levels were (6.31 ±1.52),(8.12 ±1.61) nmol · mL-1;the IL-6 levels were (1.88 ±0.25),(2.19 ±0.31) pg · mL-1,respectively.At T2 and T3,the HR of the control group were (85.54 ± 12.17),(88.33 ±12.48) beats · min-1,while those of the treatment group were (79.24 ± 13.47),(80.53 ± 11.38)beats· min-1;the MAP of the control group were (83.57 ± 11.14),(86.38 ± 11.43)mmHg,and those of the treatment group were(79.57 ± 12.44),(80.18 ± 8.33) mmHg.There were significant differences in all parameters above between the two groups (P ＜ 0.05).The incidence of adverse drug reactions in treatment and control groups was emergence agitation.The rate of adverse drug reactions in treatment and control groups were 7.14％ (2/28 cases) and 10.71％ (3/28 cases),and the difference was statistically significant (P ＜ 0.05).Conclusion Dexmedetomidine could significantly increase the level of serum SOD,decrease the levels of MDA and IL-6.Besides,the medicine could decrease the stress response of patients with laparoscopic adrenal tumor resection surgery,maintain hemodynamics during perioperative period,and lower adverse reactions occurring rate.关键词
