摘要
Abstract
The relationship between stroke and dementia was a hot research topic area. Stroke could facilitate the onset of vascular dementia and aggravate pre-existing cognitive impairment. There was often a delay in the development of cognitive impairment after a stroke. This delay could be considered as the best therapeutic time window allowing interventions to preserve cognitive decline following stroke. Both neurodegenerative and vascular mechanisms were activated within the neurovascular unit and result in disease process. This review focused on the prevalence of cognitive impairment following stroke, physiopathologic mechanisms, biomarkers, imaging features and neuropsychological assessment, so as to provide new ideas for intervention treatments of post-stroke cognitive impairment.关键词
