摘要

Abstract

Objective To explore the effect of dark plum aerosol on alleviating thirsty in uremic patients with hemodialysis based on the theory of sour-sweet herbs nourishing Yin. Methods We conducted a randomized controlled trial. Sixty hemodialysis patients with xerostomia were divided into intervention group (n=30) and control group (n=30). The intervention group was given conventional nursing and dark plum aerosol while control group received conventional nursing and warm water aerosol. Thirsty grades and resting salivary flow rates were compared between 2 groups. Results Before the intervention, the difference of baseline data and thirsty degree between 2 groups was not statistically significant (P>0.05). After the intervention, Thirsty degree score of intervention group and control group were respectively 21.8 ±1.5 and 28.7 ±1.8, thirsty degree score of intervention group decreased obviously when compared with that of control group (P<0.01). The 2 min resting salivary flow rates of intervention group and control group were respectively 1.0±0.5 mg/min and 0.3±0.1 mg/min and it had a statistical significance(P<0.01). Conclusion Dark Plum Aerosol can effectively reduce the degree of thirsty and increase resting salivary flow rates. Thus, it can reduce fluid intake and the burden of cardiovascular in hemodialysis patients thus it can be promoted clinically.
