Abstract

Objective To report the clinical value of a various audiological tests inner ear MRI in the diagnosis of Meniere's disease. Methods Clinical data of 77 patients with Meniere's disease diagnosed from Jan. 2012 to Dec. 2015 were analyzed retrospectively, including pure tone audiometry, glycerol tests, electrocochleogram, caloric tests, vestibu-lar evoked myogenic potentials, inner ear magnetic resonance imaging, etc. Results Unilaterally abnormal pure tone au-diometry results were seen in 69 patients (92.3%). Vestibular evoked myogenic potentials were detected in 65 cases and abnormal in 37 cases (56.9%). Of the 22 patients who received electrocochleogram tests, 15 (68.2%) showed abnormal results. Caloric tests were conducted in 71 cases, and showed abnormal results in 49 cases (69.0%)–abnormal symme-try in 47 cases and bilateral weakness in 2 cases. Glycerol test was positive in 3 of the 12 tested patients (25.0%). In the 76 cases that underwent magnetic resonance imaging with contrast, 70 (92.1%) showed increased fluid volume. Conclu-sions Pure tone audiometry and magnetic resonance imaging demonstrate higher rates of detection of abnormality, fol-lowed by caloric tests and electrocochleography, and can be used as important evidence for the diagnosis of Meniere's disease.
