Expression of MUC5AC and TNF-αin Middle Ear Mucosa in a Rat Model of Acute Otitis Media With Effusion

Abstract
Objective To study expression of MUC5AC and TNF-αin the middle ear mucosa in rat model of acute otitis media with effusion. Methods Forty adult female Sprague-Dawlay (SD) rats were randomly divided into a control group and a experimental group. Rats in the experimental group received injection of endotoxin. The level and pattern of MUC5AC and TNF-αexpression within the middle ear epithelium were tested by qPCR and immunohistochemical as-says. Results qPCR and immunohistochemical staining results showed increased expression of MUC5AC and TNF-αin the experimental group along with time (*P<0. 05) and the MUC5AC were mainly concentrated on the goblet cells. Con-clusions Expression of MUC5AC and TNF-αis increased in rat middle ear epithelium with acute media otitis with effu-sion. Hence, it is speculated that MUC5AC and TNF-αmay participate in the process of acute media otitis with effusion.关键词
