Abstract

This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of dietary riboflavin level on growth per-formance and plasma biochemical indices of Pekin ducks from 15 to 42 days of age. Using a one-factor com-pletely randomize design, a total of 288 fifteen-day-old male Pekin ducks were randomly allotted to 6 groups with 6 replicates per group and 8 ducks per replicate. Ducks in the control group were fed a basal diet ( ribofla-vin level was 1.38 mg/kg) , and others in the experimental groups were fed the basal diet supplemented with 1.00, 2.00, 3.00, 4.00 and 5.00 mg/kg riboflavin, respectively. The experiment lasted for 28 days. The re-sults showed that compared with the control group, dietary riboflavin supplementation significantly increased the average daily gain and average daily feed intake ( P<0.05) , significantly increased plasma riboflavin con-tent ( P<0.05) , significantly decreased plasma glutamic-pyruvic transaminase activity and triglyceride content ( P<0.05) . In conclusion, dietary riboflavin supplementation can improve growth performance and plasma ri-boflavin content of male Pekin ducks from 15 to 42 days of age. According to the broken-line model, the ribo-flavin requirements of Pekin ducks from 15 to 42 days of age for average daily gain, average daily feed intake, feed to gain ratio, and plasma riboflavin content are 2.24 to 2.66 mg/kg.
