Macroelement Requirements for Maintenance and Growth of Dorper×Hu F1 Male Lambs Weighted 20 to 35 kg
摘要
Abstract
A comparative slaughter trial was conducted to estimate the macroelement [ calcium ( Ca ) , phos-phor ( P) , potassium ( K) , sodium ( Na) and magnesium ( Mg) ] requirements for maintenance and growth of Dorper×Hu F1 male lambs weighted 20 to 35 kg. Thirty-five male lambs [ initial body weight ( BW) was (19.20±0.36) kg] were used as experimental animals. Seven lambs were randomly chosen and slaughtered at about 20 kg BW for measuring initial body macroelement contents. Another seven lambs were also randomly chosen and offered a pelleted mixed diet ad libitum ( AL) and slaughtered at about 28 kg BW. The remaining 21 lambs were randomly allocated to 3 groups, which were AL, 70%AL and 40%AL groups, each group had 7 lambs. All lambs were slaughtered when lambs in AL group reached approximately 35 kg BW. Macroelement contents of empty body ( head+feet, hide, internal organs+blood, and carcass) of lambs were determined. The results showed as follows:at 20 to 35 kg BW, Ca P, Na, K and Mg requirements for maintenance [ based on empty body weight ( EBW ) ] of Dorper × Hu F1 male lambs were 24. 01, 11. 70, 3. 20, 6. 60 and 1.20 mg/kg EBW, and those for growth [ based on empty body weight gain ( EBWG ) ] were 11. 55 to 11.41 g/kg EBWG, 5.82 to 5.77 g/kg EBWG, 1.47 to 1.69 g/kg EBWG, 0.42 to 0.44 g/kg EBWG, and 0.98 to 0.88 g/kg EBWG. In conclusion, the determination of macroelement requirements may help to formu-late more balanced diets for Dorper×Hu male lambs in the growth phase of 20 to 35 kg BW and improvement of growth performance of lambs.关键词
