Effect of Blade Number on Performance of Pump as Turbine

Abstract
In order to clear the influence of the speed on performance of pump as turbine,based on Navier-Stokes equation, k-ε turbulence model and SIMPLE algorithm,the numerical simulation using commercial software ANSYS-FLUENT for the pump as turbine at different speeds(750,1000,1500,2000 and 2900 r/min was carried out. According to the result of numerical simulation under different speeds,the external characteristic curve and Internal flow characteristics of pump as turbine were obtained of pump as turbine respectively. The results show that:For the research model,with the increasing of the speed,the efficiency of the optimal efficiency of the pump as turbine is gradually increasing,but the gradient is relatively small. The flow rate and rotating speed of the optimal efficiency point is basically linear increasing trend. Both the head and the power increase with the increase of the rotating speed. The head in small flow conditions to increase the gradient is larger,and a large flow condition to increase the gradient is relatively small. The change trend of power is opposite to the change law of the head,i.e. with the increase of the power,the gradient is relatively small when the small flow rate increases,and the power of the large flow rate increases sharply with the increase of the speed. The farther away from the optimal working condition,the more serious the degree of decline in efficiency. According to the performance characteristics of pump as turbine under different rotating speeds,speed reduction has a significant effect on improving the efficiency of pump as turbine in small flow condition. In contrast to the large flow rate conditions,the premise is the need for structural strength to meet the requirements,increasing the speed is beneficial to the energy recovery of the pump as turbine. The results of the study provide a reference for the economic operation of the pump turbine.关键词
