Abstract
Objective:To explore the possibilities of volatile organic compounds (VOC) as biomarker for the diagnosis of lung cancer by " double" low temperature condensation and concentration method,and its relationship with lung cancer.Methods:Fifty-eight patients with lung cancer in our hospital from March 2015 to September 2016 and 70 healthy volunteers were enrolled in this study.All participants inhale the condensed air and exhalation into the sampling bag.The VOC in the exhaled gas were concentrated in the cold concentrator and heated to 80℃ for 30 minutes,then sampled with a syringe to detect 14 VOC concentrations.The changes of VOC concentration in healthy volunteers and lung cancer patients were compared,and the relationship between the concentration of VOC and the clinical stage,smoking history,lung function examination results,lung cancer history were studied,and the relationship between the concentration of VOC and the clinical stage of the disease was analyzed,ROC curves was built.Results:The age of lung cancer patients was significantly higher than that of healthy volunteers (P<0.05),and the proportion of male patients was also higher (P <0.05),and rnost lung cancer patients were aboved at stage Ⅲ A.The concentration of isoprene,cyclohexane,toluene,ethylbenzene and xylene in exhaled cells of lung cancer patients were significantly higher than those of the healthy volunteers(P <0.05),and with the clinical stage of lung cancer,the concentration of isoprene and xylene were significantly increased(P<0.05),but nothing to do with histological type (P>0.05).The sensitivity and specificity of using cyclohexane in diagnosis of lung cancer were 0.72 and 0.76 respectively,threshold value was 0.172 ppb.The sensitivity and specificity of using xylene in diagnosis of lung cancer were 0.79 and 0.86 respectively,threshold value was 0.169 ppb.Conclusion:VOC concentration of exhalation gas can be used as a non-invasive tool for diagnosis of lung cancer by "double" low temperature condensation and concentration method,and can be used to monitor lung cancer progression and prognosis.关键词
