Abstract

The air insulation clearance between phases of compact transmission lines is greatly reduced compared to normal transmission line.Therefore,when it encounters external forces,such as ice-shedding and wind,flashover and line collision accident can happen.We studied the conductor suppression effect of traditional inter-phase spacer and new phase-to-earth spacer under the comprehensive conditions of strong wind and C-phase ice-shedding for 1 000 kV UHV AC compact transmission lines.Based on the nonlinear three-degree-freedom (3DOF) simulation model established by Tsinghua University,the time interval between wind and ice-shedding was studied.When the wind blows simultanenously with ice-shedding,it has the worst influence on air clearance between phases.The conductor suppression effect of different spacer configuration schemes is investigated under the combined conditions of strong wind and ice-shedding.The simulation result shows that it has effective control on the air clearance with span under 1 000 m to apply new phase-to-earth spacer with a height of 14 m and a diameter of 75 mm on C-phase,and three inter-phase spacers with a height of 14 m and a diameter of 30 mm on the place of 1/4,1/2 and 3/4 of A-B phases,respectively.For transmission lines of over 1 000 m span,it is suggested to enlarge the air clearance between phases to 18 m and use spacer configuration scheme above-mentioned.In this way,transmission lines can operate safely with span under 1 500 m.During dynamic operation,the tension and pressure of the insulator are within the safety range,and have great margins.In conclusion,for the compact transmission lines under comprehensive conditions of strong wind and ice-shedding,the method of combining large diameter inter-phase spacers with phase-to-earth spacers is recommended for effective air clearance control.For the transmission lines of larger span,it is necessary to combine the method of increasing the distance between phases to ensure safe air clearance between phases.
