Abstract
Objective To investigate the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)features of central nervous system he-mangioblastoma and to explore the value of MRI in the diagnosis of central nervous system hemangioblastoma. Methods Thirty-one patients with central nervous system hemangioblastoma confirmed by surgical pathology underwent MRI examina-tion before the operation,and the results of MRI examination were analyzed. Results There were 26 cases with solitary tumors and 5 cases with multiple tumors. In the 37 lesions,26 were located in the cerebellum,3 in the medulla,and 8 in the spinal cord. According to the MRI characteristics,the tumors were divided into four types:cyst-nodule type,cystic-sol-id type,solid type,and pure cyst type. Cystic nodular type included large cystic small nodules and large cystic large nod-ules. Large and punctate cystic lesions could be seen in the cystic and solid type lesions. There was no cystic or small cyst-ic in solid type. The cystic portion of the lesion showed long T1 and long T2 signals (except for 1 case with slightly shorter T1 and short T2 signals). Solid lesions and lesions of the solid part of T1WI showed equal or low signal,T2WI showed e-qual or slightly high signal. When we enhanced scanning,the solid components were significantly enhanced,while the cystic components were not. The enhancement was found in part of the cystic wall and septum of 2 cases. Blood vessels were seen in the 19 lesions. Eleven lesions showed the characteristics of cyst-in-cyst. Conclusions The cystic nodules are the main manifestations of MRI of central nervous system hemangioblastoma. MRI examination helps to show the character-istics of hemangioblastoma and contribute to the preoperative diagnosis of central nervous system hemangioblastoma.关键词
