Abstract
To investigate the effects of xylazine hydrochloride on the liver and renal function in dogs during anesthesia,eight healthy adult hybrid dogs were anesthetized by quadriceps injection of xylazine hydrochloride at a dose of 2.4 mg/kg body weight.The blood samples were collected from jugular vein at 0 min before anesthesia and 0.5 h,1 h,1.5 h and 2 h after anesthesia.The serum indicators associated with liver and renal functions were measured by automatic biochemical analyzer.These results showed that the activities of serum aspartate aminotransferase and γ-glutamyltransferase and the serum contents of total protein,direct bilirubin,creatinine,uric acid and urea were not significantly changed (P＞0.05) when compared with the starting point.Also,there was no significant difference in liver and kidney functions among the different experimental blood collection points (P＞0.05).It suggests that xylazine hydrochloride has no significant effect on liver and renal functions in dogs during anesthesia.关键词
