An Introduction to Assessment Tools in Speech-Language Pathology in Taiwan

Abstract

This paper aims to introduce the speech language assessment tools that are commonly used in Taiwan.Seven widely used speech language assessment instruments are surveyed.They are ① The Development of Language Assessment Test for Pre-School Children,② The Development of Language Assessment Test for School Children,③③Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test-Revised (PPVT-R)-Chinese version,④ Preschool Language Scale (PLS),⑤ Pre-school Developmental Curriculum Assessment:Language and Communication assessment,⑥ Mandarin Token Test (MTT),and ⑦The test of Communication and Language Ability for School-Age Children in Chinese (TCLA).We strongly recommend an establishment of the standardized mandarin version of assessment tool first before making necessary revisions for the multilanguage settings.
