Expression of IL-1β、MMP-13 and S100A12 Protein in Joint Fluids of Knee Osteoarthritis Rats Influenced by Electro-acupuncture

Abstract
Objective:To observe the effect of electro-acupuncture on IL-1β 、MMP-13 and S100A12 protein expression in joint fluids of knee osteoarthritis rats.Methods:30 SD rats were randomly divided into the blank group,the model group and the electro-acupuncture group.The models were established by injecting 4% papain.IL-1β 、MMP-13 and S100A12 protein content in joint fluid were tested wtih Elisa method five weeks and seven weeks respectively after the establishment of successful models.Results:The levels of IL-1β,MMP-13,S100A12 protein content in the model group and electro-acupuncture group were significantly higher than those of the blank group at both time points (P < 0.05);but those levels were significantly lower than those of the model group at the same time point (P < 0.05);moreover,those levels of seven weeks after were lower than those of five weeks after,and the difference was statistically significant(P <0.05);however,there was no statistical significance between the seven weeks after and five weeks after in the model group(P >0.05).Conclusion:Electro-acupuncture may promote the recovery of the structure and function of arthrodial cartilage by down-regulating the expression of IL-1 β,MMP-13 and S100A12 protein,inhibiting the release of inflammatory factor,preventing the degradation of cartilage matrix,regulating the immune response of the organism.关键词
