Abstract

This study classified the train paths on the high-speed rail network systematically and analyzed the characteristics of all kinds of train paths. Among within-line train paths and cross-line train paths, within-line train paths were divided into linear path and circular path, cross-line train paths were divided into the moderate/long-distance train paths, regional train paths and paths of the special passenger products. After analyzing the cross-line train paths, it was indicated that their circuitous degrees are low and should meet the constraints of circuity threshold value. Regional trains serve passenger flows in a region and can be made of a number of short within-line train paths. When regional passenger flows are sufficient, several short within-line train paths can form an annular train path. Special passenger transportation products have specific service objects and clear product characteristics, their departure and end points and run time should satisfy the product characteristics and market localization. To master the reasonable classification and characteristics of train paths is advantageous to design train plan scientifically.
