Emission properties of diesel engine fueled with biodiesel

Abstract
In order to study the influence of biodiesel on engine emissions,bench tests were conducted to investigate the engine emissions from a 4-cyclinder naturally aspirated direct-injection diesel engine fueled with neat diesel fuel B0,blended fuels B10,B20,B30,and neat biodiesel (B100).Experiments were conducted on different engine speed and torque conditions so that the influence of engine load and engine speed on the emissions could be identified.The results showed that under all test conditions,biodiesel reduced THC,CO,and PM emissions from diesel engines but increased NOx emissions.An increase in biodiesel ratio in blended fuels caused an increase in the amplitude of emissions variations;the THC and CO emissions consistently decreased and NOx and PM emissions showed trade-off relations.At the same blending ratio,the amplitude of PM reduction was always greater than that of the NOx increase.关键词
