Three Dimensional Printing in Auricle Reconstruction for Congenital Malformation of Middle and External Ear

Abstract
Objective To report total auricle reconstruction with autogenous rib cartilages combined with 3D print-ing. Methods The auricle in 40 cases of microtia was reconstructed using autogenous costal cartilages combined with 3D printing. The appearance of the reconstructed auricle was evaluated, together with patient satisfaction. Results Of the total score of 28 regarding14 auricle anatomical structures, surgeon rated 20 or higher in 70%of the cases, similar to patient satisfaction rating against the healthy ear (P>0.05). The reconstructed auricle showed adequate symmetry with the healthy ear, with individualized, natural and realistic 3D appearances. Conclusion Use of autogenous rib cartilages combined with 3D printing technology provides precise and highly individualized auricle reconstruction and is an ideal technique of auricular reconstruction worth to be introduced to the otology community.关键词
