Perioperative Management of Cochlear Implantation in Patients with Facial Nerve Aberrations

Abstract
Facial nerve is one of the most essential anatomic structures which needs to be protected during otology surgeries, and facial nerve aberrations (FNA) may significantly increase the risk of facial nerve injury. Cochlear implan-tation (CI) is one of the most common treatment for patients with severe to profound sensorineural hearing loss. Facial nerve may impact the choice of surgical approach when performing CI. In this article, we will review embryonic devel-opment of the facial never, the classification of facial nerve aberrations and perioperative management of cochlear im-plantation in patients with facial nerve aberrations to facilitate clinical practice.关键词
