摘要

Abstract

The effects of rare earth elements on grain boundary purification, solid solution strengthening, and carbide improvement of high speed steel were summarized, and the corresponding mechanism was discussed in this paper. The influences of rare earth elements on microstructure and mechanical properties of high speed steel were emphatically introduced, including the participation of rare earth elements in oxygen sulfide formation processes, the interaction between rare earth elements and other elements to realize micro-alloying, the grain refinement, the grain boundary purification, and the improvement of morphology, size, and content of carbides in high speed steel. It was found that, the excessive addition of rare earth elements would increase the inclusions in high speed steel, affecting the performance of high speed steel. To solve this problem, the introducing way and content of rare earth in high speed steel were discussed, and the further development of rare earth elements in powder metallurgy high speed steel was predicted.
