摘要

Abstract

The influence of trace Zr element on the microstructure and mechanical properties of A356 aluminum alloys was studied. It can be achieved thatα-Al dendrites can be refined after adding 0.05%-0.25% Zr into the melt, and the best refining efficiency is obtained when 0.15%-0.25% Zr is added. Besides, the distribution of eutectic silicon is improved. Microstructural of alloy was analyzed by SEM. The result indicates that blocky intermetallic compounds containing Zr element are formed and Zr element is mainly distributed along the grain boundaries. Trace Zr addition is benefit to improvement of the yiled strength, ultimate tensile strength, elongation percentage, and Brinell hardness.
