Determination of Large-scale Helicopter-borne V/UHF Antenna Radiation Patterns by Flight Test

Abstract
The accurate measurements of V/UHF antenna radiation patterns ( ARP ) is very important for testing the performance of airborne communication systems and guiding its operation. As the traditional test methods are not suitable for a large-scale helicopter, through the analysis of its flight characteristics, a new method of ARP measurement suitable for large-scale helicopters is proposed. Limit values of the flight parameters including altitude, velocity and attitude are given through calculation. The detailed process is also provided. By acquiring the calibration data of all test frequencies in each flight and completing the cal-ibration curve fitting, high precision is guaranteed. The method has been applied in the flight test of a large-scale helicopter and the results show that the standard deviation between this method and the tradi-tional method is within 1. 6 dB, and the flight test efficiency is improved by 66%.关键词
