Flocculation performance of cationic xylan-based copolymer for clay suspension
摘要
Abstract
The flocculation performance of cationic xylan-based copolymers with different charge densities and molecular weights on kaolin and bentonite clay suspensions were investigated. The results showed that the cationic xylan-based copolymer could be adsorbed on the surface of both kaolin and bentonite particles.The adsorption isotherms of the copolymer on particle surface fits well into Langmuir isotherm model ,which is a physical adsorption.After adsorption of the copolymer ,the charge density of clay particles has an obvious change , but the change trends are different. The flocculation performance of xylan-based copolymer for clay suspension is directly related with its adsorption amount on the surface of clay particles.The xylan-based copolymer with higher charge density has a better flocculation performance on bentonite suspension than kaolin suspension.关键词
