Abstract

The ternary system relax or ferroelectric single crystal of [0.24Pb(In1/2Nb1/2)O3?0.43Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3?0.33PbTiO3, (0.24PIN?0.43PMN?0.33PT)] with the MPB composition was investigated by terahertz time-domain spectroscopy. The THz wave dielectric modulation properties of this single crystal were examined by finite difference time domain (FDTD) at different thicknesses and in various electric fields. The results show that the thickness and the electric field both have dominant effects on the dielectric modulation performance at 0.1-1.0 THz. At 0.325 THz, the modulation depths of THz wave are 31.4%, 43.7% and 49.9% when the thicknesses are 3, 5 μm and 7 μm, respectively. The modulation depths are 18.3% and 23.7% at 0.543 THz and 0.903 THz, respectively, in different electric fields.
