Expressions and Significances of Signal Transducers and Activators of Transcription Factor 3 and Survivin Protein in Colon Cancer

Abstract
Objective To investigate expressions and significances of signal transducers and activator of transcription factor 3 (STAT3) and survivin protein in colon cancer and analyze the correlation.Methods A total of 84 cases of colon cancer tissues and 30 cases of normal colon tissues during January 2013 and January 2014 were recruited in this study,and then immunohistochemical staining method was used to detect STAT3 and survivin expressions in colon cancer and normal colon tissues.Relationship between STAT3 and survivin expressions with clinicopathological features of colon cancer was detected,and the correlation between STAT3 and survivin was analyzed.Results The positive expression rates of STAT3 and survivin protein in colon cancer tissues were significantly higher than those in normal colon tissues (P ＜ 0.01).In colon cancer tissues,the positive expression rates of STAT3 and survivin protein were correlated with differentiation degree,lymph nodes metastasis and TNM staging (P ＜0.05);STAT3 expression was positively correlated with survivin expression (r =0.318,P ＜ 0.05).Conclusion STAT3 and survivin are closely related to pathogenesy and development of colon cancer,and therefore it has some value in diagnosis,treatment and prognosis judgement.关键词
