Deactivation, optimization and industrial-scale experimental validations on Cu/ZnO/Al2O3 catalyst in 1,4-butanediol dehydrogenation

摘要

Abstract

The performance of Cu/ZnO/Al2O3 catalyst was evaluated in the industrial side-line apparatus of 1,4-butanediol dehydrogenation producing γ-butyrolactone through the accelerated deactivation method.The results showed that the catalyst life time was influenced by the following factors:packing mode,reduction temperature,LHSV,molar ratio of hydrogen to alcohol,and reaction temperature.The favorite catalyst packing mode was the non-uniform particle catalyst in the different segments approach(the 50%(φ) upper bed with 3 mm × 3 mm catalyst,the 50%(φ) bottom bed with 5 mm × 5 mm catalyst) with the best reduction temperature at 285 ℃.The recommended catalytic process parameters were given below:reaction temperature between 235-265 ℃,the molar ratio of hydrogen to 1,4-butanediol of 4-8,and LHSV of 0.3-0.6 h1.The catalyst life time in 10 kt/a industrial plant reaches up to 13 530 h under this conditions.
