Abstract

Recognizing the distribution of a single channel and the relationship between channels is quite important for hydrocarbon exploration, development of well pattern deployment and tapping the potential of remaining oil in river facies development area. The Minghuazhen formation is an important target layer of hydrocarbon exploration in the Bohai sea area, and the multi-period channel cut and superimposition make it difficult to identify, characterize and analyze the sand-body due to highly developed fluvial sedimentary facies. Taking the Bohai oilfield X with relatively developed sandstone in shallow channel as an example, a set of high-precision coherence slicing techniques for characterizing and tracing of river channels are established, getting the high-precision coherent slices and finely describing the channel distribution. Meanwhile, the connectivity of combining parts of the sandstone in the same period was determined by wavelet decomposition and negative second derivative technology, and the possibility of the disconnectivity of the combining parts of sandstone by forward modeling was confirmed. It is proved that the conclusion is reliable by drilling and provides important reference for the exploration well deploying and development program preparation in research area.
