摘要

Abstract

Using conventional observation data, NCEP /FNL(1°×1°)reanalysis data, in combination with radar and satellite data in Urumqi, the circulation evolution and the mechanism of the generation and maintenance of an extreme blizzard process occurred in Urumqi during 10th-12th December, 2015 are preliminary analyzed. The results show that the cause of the blizzard process is the development of European ridge which promotes the long wave trough of Ural Mountains eastward and southward and the cooperation with convergence and shear of low-level wind, ground cold front and topographic forcing uplift etc. The coordination of various physical fields and the role of topography make the Urumqi heavy snow the convergence of the south airflow on 500 hPa and the north airflow on 700 hPa and 850 hPa in Urumqi can strengthen the confluence of cold and warm air and the gather of water vapor, besides, it also can provide favorable dynamic conditions for the blizzard in Urumqi. The temperature inversion over Urumqi makes the unstable energy release concentrically in the early stage of snowfall. The period of the convergence center of divergence and ascending motion are corresponding with the period of snowfall. Forced uplift of Urumqi landform provides favorable vertical structure for blizzard. The main source of water vapor of this blizzard is the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal, and converging ascending motion of water vapor at low levels increase significantly, the appearance of the convergence center of moisture flux divergence has a good indication of this strongest precipitation period of Urumqi Blizzard.
