An Isolated PFC Converter With Single-stage and Bridgeless Properties

Abstract
For traditional AC/DC power factor correction (PFC) converters, the diode bridge rectifier is needed in the front-end, resulting in large conduction losses to deteriorate efficiency especially under low line condition. To solve this problem, an isolated PFC converter with single-stage and bridgeless properties was proposed. It can get a DC output voltage no matter the line is positive or negativepolarity, and the bridge rectifier can be thus omitted for PFC applications. The proposed converter adopted a bidirectional switch and center-tapped transformer with two output windings to achieve bipolarity input and electrical isolation. The operation modes and characteristics of the proposed converter operating in discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) were analyzed in detail. Finally, the corresponding simulation and experimental results were provided to verify the theoretical analysis.关键词
