Abstract

As a new type of wharf construction, mechanical characteristics of wharf with arched longitudinal beams are to be analyzed.Three-dimensional solid model of wharf with arched longitudinal beams was built by finite element software ANSYS/LS-DYNA.P-y curve was used to simulate interaction of pile and soil.The effect of tor-sional-angle and batter-pile layout form to dynamical response of wharf were calculated and analyzed.The results show that setting batter-pile is an efficient and necessary way to decrease the global displacement of wharf.Setting 15 °torsional-angle as the optimum angle can make sure the monolithic stability of wharf structure and it can be de-fined as the most suitable torsional-angle.The connection of abutment and piles and the connection of abutment and topside structure are the most possible places that stress concentration occurs, therefore, local reinforcement at these two places is suggested.The results may provide a reference for the application of wharf with arched longitudi-nal beams in engineering.
