Evidence based treatment for carotid artery stenosis:Controversy and consensus
摘要
Abstract
Carotid artery stenosis is a well-recognized risk factor for ischemic stroke.In the late 1980s and in the 1990s,well-designed randomized trials established a definite advantage for carotid endarterectomy.Although those landmark trials have helped to establish the current guidelines,there still remains a great deal of controversy regarding the technical approach to carotid revascularization.In particular,current medical treatment has drastically decreased the risk of stroke in patients with asymptomatic carotid stenosis.Selecting patients amenable to endovascular or surgical treatment still needs to be resolved.关键词
