Impact of pereutaneous vertebroplasty and percutaneous kyphoplasty on quality of life in old patients with osteoporoticthoracolumbar vertebral fractures

Abstract
Objective To investigate the effect of percutaneous vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty on quality of life in elderly patients with osteoporotic thoracolumbar vertebral compression fractures.Methods The clinical data of 74 patients with osteoporotic thoracolumbar vertebral compression fractures from June 2014 to January 2016 were retrospectively analyzed.The patients were divided into operation group and non-operation group,with 37 patients in each group.Patients in the surgery group were treated by percutaneous vertebroplasty or kyphoplasty.Non-surgical groups were treated with conservative treatment.The quality of life scores were compared between the two groups before and after surgery.Results There was no significant difference in preoperative quality of life between the two groups (P ＞ 0.05).The BP score,the GH score,the PF score,the PF score and the RP score were significantly better than that of the non-surgical group (P ＜ 0.05).Conclusion The clinical effect of percutaneous vertebroplasty or kyphoplasty in elderly patients with osteoporotic thoracolumbar vertebral compression fractures is ideal,which can alleviate lower back pain,and can make patients do early ambulation,avoid long-term bed rest caused by complications,and significantly improve the quality of life.关键词
