Abstract

Based on the characteristics of concrete filled steel tubular structures and special-shaped columns,a new cross-shaped concrete filled steel tubular column(CFST)with core column and flange column was utilized.In order to investigate the fire resistance performance of this kind of column,test of five full-scale cross-shaped concrete filled steel tubular column specimens were conducted under the ISO 834 standard fire curve.The fire resistance performance of five full-scale cross-shaped column specimens was studied under the ISO 834 standard fire curve.The influence of axial compression ratio and fire retardant coating thickness on the failure behavior,axial deformation and fire resistance of the cross-shaped CFST column at high temperature was analyzed.The test results indicate that the greater the axial compression ratio,the shorter the fire resistance;the thicker the coating thickness,the more obvious the increase of fire resistance.The cross-shaped CFST column has shown great fire resistance performance compared with existing design codes,the fire resistance of the cross-shaped CFST column could reach 190 min.When the thickness of fire retardant coating was 10 mm,the need of thickness of fire retardant coating for the cross-shaped CFST column was 22% of that of the steel structure column under the design code's requirement.
