摘要

Abstract

Due to the weak mechanical property of CFRP under elevated temperatures,the externally bonded (EB) CFRP strengthening systems are normally vulnerable under fire.Comparatively,in a near surface mounted (NSM) CFRP strengthening system,CFRP reinforcement is protected from environment impact by concrete cover and adhesive,making it possible to have a better fire resistance.To figure out the potential fire resistive capacity,nine RC beams strengthened with near-surface mounted CFRP,two strengthened with external CFRP sheets and one reference RC beam were loaded to failure under the ISO 834 standard fire.Four main factors were experimentally studied,i.e.strengthening method (near surface mounted technique/externally bonded technique),adhesive (epoxy and magnesium-oxychloride cement),fire protection materials (thin intumescent fire retardant coating and thick fire retardant coating) and location of fire protection (notch protection/single-sided protection/three-sided protection).The test results indicate that NSM strengthened RC beans with appropriate protection can achieve the fire resistance of normal RC beams required by the present code.
