The Effects of Alcohol Ingestion on OSAHS and Relationship between ADH2/ALDH2 Genetic Polymorphisms and Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome

Abstract
Objective To evaluate the effects of alcohol ingestion on obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) and the relationship between functional ADH2 Arg47His and ALDH2 Glu487Lys polymorphisms and OSAHS. Methods The data were collected from a chart review of patients with sleep snoring, a1l patients who have been tested for PSG in our center from February 2014 to February 2017 were surveyed. A total of 321 patients were excluded, the recruited subjects were divided into OSAHS (n=208) and non-OSAHS (n=113) groups. Information about drinking condition was collected. The polymorphisms of ADH2 Arg47His and ALDH2 Glu487Lys were detected by PCR-LDR methods. Unconditional logistic regression analysis was used to adjust the potential confounding factors and to assess the independent effect of each contributing factor on the presence of OSAHS. Results BMI, neck circumference, abdominal circumference and snore age were statistically significant difference respectively between OSAHS group and non-OSAHS group (P<0. 05 or P<0. 01). The frequency of ADH2 genotype AA/( A/G+G/G) and ALDH2 genotype GG/( G/A+A/A) in OSAHS group had no statistical differences comparing with the control group (χ2 =1. 23, χ2 =2. 37, P>0. 05). Compared with ADH2 genotype A/A and ALDH2 genotype G/G, other genotypes did not increase the risk of developing the OSAHS. Conclusion Drinking is a risk factor for OSAHS, ADH2 Arg47His and ALDH2 Glu487Lys genetic polymorphisms had no association with OSAHS and the se-verity of OSAHS.关键词
