Abstract

The kind of condenser specially used for fresh water production and the solar chimney power plant combined with seawater desalination by indirect condensation heat transfer fresh water production (SCPPSDIC) is designed by our research team.Based on the Spanish solar chimney power plant geometry parameters,a three-dimensional modeling and numerical simulation of SCPPSDIC is carried out,and the numerical simulation results are compared with single solar chimney power plant's(SCPP's).The research results shows that the temperature field and pressure field of SCPPSDIC are symmetry distributed along the chimney center axis and the change is more gentle.The output power of SCPPSDIC have a slight decrease of 4.2 kW by contrast to SCPP,but condenser area can produce 3.95 ton/h of fresh water,and a very considerable fresh water output is achieved,which makes the comprehensive utilization of solar energy have improved from less than 1% to 3.43%.The condenser not only achieve fresh water production,but also play an important role in preheating the seawater before flowing into distillation pool to make full use of energy.
