Abstract
Objective Our study aimed to analyze the changes inserum matrix metalloproteinase 9 (MMP-9) and tumor necrosis factor-or (TNF-α) in patients with diabetic cataract and the clinical implications of these changes.Methods Clinical data of patients with diabetic cataract treated in our hospital between July 2016 and January 2017 were analyzed as Group A.The age-related cataract patients were enrolled as Group B.TNF-α and MMP-9 were tested and compared between the two groups.Results A total of 82 patients were analyzed.42 cases in Group A and 40 cases inGroup B.Group A patients had higher levels of TNF-α (18.9 ±4.3 ng/L vs.12.5 ±2.9 ng/L;t =7.862,P ＜0.01)and MMP-9 (58.9 ±9.6 pg/mg vs.31.7 ±7.3 pg/mg;t =14.390,P ＜0.01) than these of Group B patients,and the differenceswere statistically significant.Meanwhile,Group A patients had higher levels of fasting blood-glucose (FBG) (7.6 ± 1.5mmol/L vs.4.5 ± 1.3 mmol/L;t =9.979,P ＜ 0.01).Correlation analysis showed that TNF-α level is positively correlated to MMP-9 level in Group A patients (r =0.659,P ＜ 0.01).FBG showed positive correlation with both MMP-9 (r =0.571,P ＜ 0.01) and TNF-α (r =0.703,P ＜ 0.01).Conclusions Compared with age-related cataract patients,the levels of MMP-9 and TNF-a are higher in diabetic cataract patients,which indicated the different pathophysiological process and pathogenesis.关键词
